MIRDC Gets Involved


The MIRDC (Mother Ignacia Research Development Center) spearheaded several events that involves the SMCT community reaching-out to the Tagum city community. This is in tune with the school’s mission to expand our reach to the poor. Last December 19, 2016 the SMCT community went to various poor communities to spread Christmas Joy through Gift giving, Sharing and Bible reflection sessions. The entire Faculty, Staff, the RVM sisters and the student body where involved in the event. The communities also where very cooperative and responsive to the activities prepared by the different groups. The SMCT’s involvement made a deep impression on the community.
Reach-out Through Infrastructure
The school’s engineering program repaired the MPMI Basakan Center last December 2016. The engineering program is not limited to the four walls of the classroom. The students and professors used their skills and knowledge to help the Tagum city Community through research and infrastructure repair.


MIRDC3As a simulation center, the BSBA launched the “XPRESSIONS Coffee Bar” Last December 12, 2016. The BIC (Business Incubation Center) aims to provide a venue for BSBA student to practice actual business and office practices




Clearing of the Vacant Lot

MIRDC4The vacant lot near the Mitsubishi Motors was cleared using a bulldozer last January 21, 2017. The land will be used for farming of Sweet Corn and other vegetables and crops. The Provincial Agriculture Office (PAGRO) already approved the use of a farm mole in the plowing of the lot subject to the conditions of an SP ordinance.
