DACET Educators’ Congress 2016 held in SMCT


Education is key to a stable and safe society, it ensures the continuity of values, knowledge and ideals. Catholic schools ensure that Christian values are inculcated to every student enrolled in their institution. Thus, ensuring the growth and continuity of good values taught by Jesus Christ revealed to him by God.
The Diocesan Apostolate on Catholic Education of Tagum (DACET) held its Educators Congress at St. Mary’s College of Tagum last October 14, 2016 with the theme, Catholic Schools as Channels of Mercy. The event was participated by, sixteen (16) Catholic Schools in the region, Maryknoll (Asuncion, Maniki, Sto. Tomas, Panabo, New Corella), Assumption (Mawab, Monkayo, Nabunturan, Compostella), Letran (Tagum, Maco), St. Vincent (Maragusan), Assumpta (Tagum) Cor Jesu (Mabini), QACS, and the host for the event, St. Mary’s College of Tagum. A Holy Eucharist was celebrated to usher the event. The Eucharist was presided by the Bishop of Tagum City, Most Rev. Wilfredo D. Manlapaz, DD, SthD. Fr. Joel E. Tabora, SJ. President of the Catholic Educational Association of the Philippines was the keynote Speaker for the event. The event also included parlor games and sports to foster camaraderie among educators. The congress is held every other year.
